More Information + Frequently Asked Questions

  • For clients with less than 12 weeks of regrowth

  • For clients with 12+ weeks of regrowth, new clients or clients wanting to make a change

  • These prices are subject to change as our apprentices gain more skills and experience. Prices at time of booking will always be honored.

  • Shampoo, conditioner, protective spray, wide tooth comb, silk scrunchie, and silk pillowcase.

  • Hair extensions add length and fullness. Our hair extensions are fused or sewn in natural hair by incorporating additional human hair.

    • We only use 100% Remy human hair which is often considered the gold standard in extensions. It is our preferred choice for hair extensions because it achieves the most natural look.

    • Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the outermost layer of the hair, known as cuticles, are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-Remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process also ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and relatively tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

  • At Stone Fox we install hair extension using two methods, hand tied or fusion.

Hand tied hair extensions actually refer to a type of hair extension weft used in an extension installation. A weft consists of a collection of hair strands weaved to their own thread. Hand tied hair extension wefts are sewn to your natural hair typically using a beaded track. The number of rows and the number of wefts depend on your starting point and your goals or the look you are trying to achieve.

When extensions are installed using the hand tied hair extension method, no heat, chemicals, glue, or other adhesives are used to attach your extensions to your natural hair. And because of the application using the beaded row, hand tied extensions are able to lay flatter on your head than other extension types, creating a more natural look.

    • The hand tied hair extension method also alleviates tension or pressure points that can come with other hair extension methods, leading to much more comfortable extensions and healthier natural hair. In addition, when properly installed, the beads won't touch your scalp, which means no rubbing or irritation and a healthier scalp.

    • Fusion hair extensions (also known as bonding or pre-bonded) are fused to natural hair. Fusion hair extensions uses a heat clamp to bond keratin to the natural hair. Fusion hair extensions are often used to supplement hand tied extensions.

  • Yes! Please refer to the after care section for more detailed information about washing, styling and coloring your extensions.

  • A consultation for new installments is required. During your consultation your stylist will assess your hair and discuss your goals (volume and length).

    • Traction alopecia- is a form of hair loss caused by prolonged or repetitive tension on the hair due to tight braids, locks, and other hairstyles. The weight of extensions can put additional stress on the roots, so it's important that we match your hair density to avoid unnecessary tension on natural hair. The placement is also essential and will be placed where your hair is the strongest. We will avoid areas along the hairline or the back of the neck, where hair is the most fragile.

    • Sore, tender scalp

    • Allergic reaction- a reaction can occur to the bond from a fusion hair extension

    • Dreadlocks, knotted or matted extensions, or tangling- due to improper care

  • A maintenance appointment is recommended every 6-10 weeks to remove and move you your extensions. A color maintenance appointment might also be necessary.

  • On average, your hair will last about a year. At that point your hair extensions will need to be replaced.

  • The deposit covers the cost of your hair. Your hair is purchased specifically for you.

    • Infection, infestation or broken skin on the scalp

    • Excessive thinning or breakage of the hair

    • Alopecia or traction alopecia

    • Excessive hair oiliness

    • Taking medications for hair loss

    • Hair loss from cancer treatments

    • Use professional products that are recommended by your stylist, including a sulfate and paraben free shampoo/conditioner.

    • Brush hair before washing to remove tangles.

    • When shampooing massage shampoo into scalp using zig zag movements. It can be helpful to clip hair half up and wash in two sections. Double wash scalp, deep condition ends and mid hair often.

    • Use a boar bristle brush 3-4x per day and apply leave in conditioner, heat protectant, and/or hair oil from mid shaft to ends daily.

    • Avoid excess moisture by blow drying on a cool or warm setting and do not go to bed with wet hair. Hold brush vertically, holding pressure at roots to avoid pulling and tension at base. Work your way from ends to roots and section hair if needed.

    • Do not use heat above 360 degrees.

    • Use silk pillowcase, braid hair, or wear a loose ponytail with silk scrunchie when sleeping.

    • Before swimming, wet hair with fresh water, spray with leave in conditioner, and put hair in braid or bun.

    • Avoid chemical based sunscreen and opt for mineral based sunscreen. Chemicals can discolor the hair.

    • Maintain extensions with appointments every 6-10 weeks and do not wear for longer than recommended.

    • Do not alter extensions in any way including cutting, coloring, applying chemicals, or trying to remove them.
